Non Surgical Face Lift

I posted this on Facebook a while back, but I don’t think a lot of people saw it. I personally use this method. While you’re watching the video you can see that this particular technique works, as she does one side of her face at a time. The very first time that I tried this technique I could tell a difference! Please try it out and let me know how it works for you!

Upgrade Your Skin!
Saturday, January 29, 2011
So, for a while now I have had some skin issues, acne and acne scaring. Some it caused by the environment and my constant activities, and some of it caused by hormones. I visited an esthetician every month for facials. If you’ve ever had a facial you know how pricey they can be. My skincare expert was able to recommend a variety of various products to include in my daily regimen, however, the problem never quite went away, no matter what I used. The acne kept coming back, deeper and harder to extract, and the scaring was a constant battle.
I want you to know that I will never advertise products on my website that I do not believe in. My reasons for presenting anything to you, the reader, is strictly for the purpose of sharing something that I have discovered and became wild about!
Recently a friend of mine presented me with a complimentary facial with a new esthetician. So I went! The facial was nice. After the facial she started to tell me about this skin brush that she was going to start selling to her clients that was known to clear skin, shrink pores, diminish fine lines, get skin cleaner and smoother than anything else you’ve ever tried…..ok, now she’s got my attention! “It’s called the Clarisonic and I’m pretty sure it’s going to change your skin for the better”.
So she tells me it costs about $225.00. That’s not crazy for something that is going to change my skin (and therefore change my life) for the better! I told her, I’d probably buy one.
So I started doing my research. Checked with friends who had one, and kept hearing the same things….”changed my skin, healthier, smoother, clearer”. I went on Ebay looking to see what the going rate was, because hey…who doesn’t like a deal?! I found several, brand new in the box for $150, so I bought one! The Clarisonic Pro.
The very first time I used it, with the same cleanser I’ve been using for months, I could feel and see a difference. Softer skin right away! I also noticed that after I washed my face, it still looked freshly washed several hours later, whereas before I would start to look kind of oily as quickly as even 1-2 hours after washing. Within a week I started to notice smaller pores, and the tiny fine lines by my eyes were diminishing. Also, I was not having any new breakouts! Hooray! (No literally…I was verbally Hooraying! LOL). Then it happened….within 5 days of using the Clarisonic, my acne scars were fading, and FAST!! Because the brush was cleaning my skin so well, it was allowing the products I’ve been using in my daily regimen to absorb into my skin instead of just sit on the surface clogging my pores even further. That was all it took…I’m HOOKED! I’ll be using this product for the rest of my life.
Ok, so then, it gets better! I bought the body brush 2 days ago. I used in with my regular body wash, and I can’t stop touching myself! (I know how that sounds….). My skin is SO soft it’s pretty ridiculous! The extra brushes run about $25 per brush, and can be bought at Sephora, Bloomingdales, your local spa, etc… although, you can get them on Ebay for cheaper.
Since I am not trying to sell you a Clarisonic unit, I will say this: you can get them from the Clarisonic website if you feel more comfortable purchasing from the company, or like I mentioned earlier I’ve seen them at Bloomingdales and a few local spas and also Sephora. But if you’re like me and you like to save a few bucks go to Ebay. Just make sure you purchase from someone with a good selling record. If you have skin issues, this is the product for you….
Be happy!

Raw Food for Health
Monday, September 27, 2010
Some “raw foodists” believe that foods cooked above 115 degrees have lost much of their nutritional value, and are less healthy and perhaps harmful to the body.
I cannot claim to have become vegetarian; however I have come to see the value of consuming my vegetables in a raw state. If I am eating veggies for the health benefits that they provide, why not gain all of the benefits? Why purposely cook out all of the best stuff? It makes sense to me! Heat kills germs; couldn’t heat in turn be killing nutrients also?
I love to think of the exact benefits that I am receiving from the foods that I am putting in my body. Is this food going to make me healthier, have more energy, or clearer skin? I cannot tell a lie, my primary reason for eating right, working out, and getting plenty of rest is solely for the purpose of striving towards beauty! That means glowing skin, shiny hair, and a beautiful body at a healthy weight. So, if what I put into my body reflects not only inner health but outer beauty as well, then naturally the fruits and vegetables I am eating should be raw to maximize these results
Raw foods have also been touted as great for combating stress, depression, anxiety and insomnia. In my quest to find which raw foods are best at helping me to achieve my end game of beauty, I discovered first, which nutrients were best for hair, skin, and a healthy body weight. So Vitamin C it seems is great for total body health. We’ve heard it all our lives…drink your OJ, it’s good for you! But, did you know it is essential for healthy, youthful, glowing skin? It’s showing up in all of the best beauty products! But rubbing it on your skin is only a tiny part of that glow we are all trying to achieve. Adding plenty of vitamin C to your diet in the form of raw foods is a better, more effective way to get that smooth, youthful look. Here’s a quick list of foods rich in vitamin C:
- Oranges
- Parsley
- Broccoli
- Strawberries
- Spinach
- Tomatoes
- Shitake Mushrooms
- Avocado
- Onions
- Basil
- Garlic
- Cacao
A couple of years ago my hairdresser I start taking Zinc Supplements as well as Biotin to aid in healthy hair growth. I was having lots of breakage, so I was pretty much open to anything. I started taking the supplements and in a few weeks a noticed that my hair was really growing…and not just the hair on my head! I was surprised to say the least. So if taking supplements can achieve those types of results, the benefits of getting that nutrient in its raw state, will be much greater. Basically supplements are harder to digest and break down and absorb. Eating your vitamins and nutrients raw, as nature intended, is much easier to absorb, which means you’re getting more of the good stuff instead of just urinating it out. Here’s a small list of foods rich in Zinc:
- Pumpkin seeds
- Cacao
- Garlic
- Sesame Seeds
- Wheat germ
- Squash seeds
So you may have noticed cacao in both lists. Raw cacao has the highest amount of vitamin c around. Cacao is responsible for that delicious, sometimes decadent food we commonly know as chocolate. The cacao nibs, the peeled crushed cacao beans seem to be full of more readily available antioxidants than super foods such as blueberries and rich teas. Also high in good fats, calcium, zinc and potassium for natural energy, it also has natural MAO inhibitors that can suppress an over active appetite.
So because eating all of these raw veggies (enough to get my vitamins) has become a little cumbersome, I decided to start juicing! So in the next few weeks I’ll be writing about my experiences with juicing and all of the great things that I’m sure are to come from that!
Pilates is for every BODY!
Thursday, June 10, 2010
People often ask me “what do you do to keep in shape?” Here’s what I tell them: I do a lot of different things. I try to stay as active as I can. I walk, I hike, and sometimes I run. I lift weights and ride bikes and sometimes I even box! I also do Pilates. I do Pilates about 3-4 times a week. I’m positively in love with MAT Pilates! Why do I love Pilates so much? Let me count the ways!
The health benefits of exercise are many. Exercise can help reduce stress and improve your mood. Exercise combats chronic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes. Exercise can help regulate your weight and boost your energy level. Simply put, exercise makes you feel better and look better!
Pilates is a wonderful form of exercise that incorporates total body strength from your core. Core exercises, more than other forms of exercise, have been known to cause feelings of well being and happiness! Mat Pilates can be done anywhere! I don’t need any particular equipment, or clothing…I don’t even really need a mat. All I need is my body, my mind and a floor! After a mat class I feel stronger, stretched (all over) and revitalized!
In the past 3 years I have suffered with Uterine Fibroids. They have been terribly painful. I never imagined that I would suffer from something that keep me from being active, but Fibroids have slowed me down a bit. For about 6 months I had to stop running and basically had to cut out cardio all together because the pain was excruciating. Pilates was the one thing that I could do that could keep me fit and feeling good, without pushing my body to the point of pain. For that alone I was eternally grateful! I have since had a non-invasive surgery to help the pain, and I’m back to running. Pilates helps keep me strong for my runs, and stretches me out after!
I’ve had countless people come to me complaining of shoulder pain, knee pain, ankle pain, etc. After a session of Pilates, they notice they feel better and the pain they had before was either going way, or lessoned. When your core musculature is strong and flexible, the other parts of your body don’t have to work so hard, that’s why in Pilates we refer to your core as the “Powerhouse”, because that’s where all the power for your body comes from!
So who should do Pilates? Should you be young or older, man or woman, athlete or couch potato? I say everybody can benefit from Pilates! What age do you want to stop being able to move like you did when you were a child? I personally don’t ever want to stop! Should women just be more flexible than men? I don’t think so! And just because you’re not training for the Olympics shouldn’t you still be strong enough to handle the physical day to day challenges that arise? I say yes!
My Pilates Studio
Sunday, July 16, 2006
Well after 3-4 weeks of intensive, back breaking labor, continuous worry , long hours and many, many, many trips to the Home Depot, my Pilates studio is up and running!
Now I don’t usually toot my own horn, but I did a lot of work without the help of my husband. I had help, but this whole project turned out to be GIRL POWER!
I learned through trial and lots of error, how NOT to lay tile.
I found out just how many coats of primer it takes to make black paint white. (trust me I could have done without knowing for the rest of my life- and by the way it was 3!)
I learned how to use drywall anchors (quite a few holes in the wall later)
I found out that you must read, and FOLLOW any written directions for putting stuff together.
I learned how to use a drill.
And I discovered that I have either an incredible work ethic or I’m obsessive compulsive (who knows, could be the latter of the two)
Anyway, here’s a picture of the final product…ENJOY!
